Pokémon Champions get Release Date

 Pokémon Champions get Release Date

On March 24th we got an overview tailer of Pokémon Champions revealing quite a couple new features. Let's dive in!

VP the New Currency

Victory Points (VP) is the new currency in Champions, and you can buy quite a couple different things with VP including new Pokémon, mega stones, held items, battle songs and a lot of cosmetics. These cosmetics include pre-battle poses, hair, clothing (of course), accessories, and even victory poses! You can also use VP to get more Pokémon, but we will talk more about that later. I find it pretty cool how we can buy different music from different games to listen to during battles. I would love to hear what Pokémon song you will get first.
Another way to use VP is to raise the EVs/stats of different Pokémon. The max EVs (effort values) is 66. You can also use VP to change the moves of your Pokémon, but I have mix feelings about this because I feel like you should be able to do this for fee, but maybe the game would be too easy if you were able to change their moves for free.
You may also use VP to change the abilities of your Pokémon. There is also new abilities for mega Pokémon, and speaking of mega Pokémon the new Megas from ZA is available in Pokémon Champions! You may also use VP to change their nature.

Types of Battles

Battles are important for earning VP. There are four different types of battles in Pokémon Champions, and we will go over each and every individual one!

Ranked Battles

Ranked Battles is kind of like clash royale's trophy road, but at the end of each season you got back to the beginning, which seems like that can get annoying. I'm also guessing since the season changes every month the legal Pokémon you can use changes with the seasons. I'm hoping this is not true because there is already a mode for changing the legal Pokémon you can use. Since this is a more competitive mode whenever you win you will go up in rank, but if you lose you will go down in rank, which is kind of like how ZA's online rank battle started out.

Casual Battles

Casual Battles is like ranked battles, but your wins and losses do not matter, which is perfect for testing out a new team, and smooth, stress-free gameplay.

Private Battles

Private battles is a way to compete with your friends. Private Battles is just like casual battles. To compete with a friend, you may give them a code in real life or send an in-game friend an invite.

Online Competitions!

Online competition is like rank battles. The fun thing about this mode is that every season the rules change. I know what you are thinking "you just said how you do not want that to happen," but that was for rank battles for competition that is different. I want rank battles to stay constant but having a mode that spices things up every once and a while could be fun!
Some noteworthy setting for this mode is that the battle format will change, for example sometimes there will be double battles or single battles. There will also be different battle styles like a ladder mode that is like ranked battles.

Obtaining Pokémon

In Pokémon champions there are two ways to obtain Pokémon: Pokémon Home and Recruit!

Pokémon Home

Pokémon Home is a utility used to store and transfer Pokémon, but in Pokémon Champions you need Pokémon home to link to the Pokémon Champions app. The Pokémon you want in Champions must be in the Pokémon Home boxes. One downside of this is that to have pay Pokémon Home to store 6000 Pokémon, but for a free player you can only have 30 Pokémon. Another downside is that you cannot transfer Pokémon from Champions to Home, making the Pokémon obtained in champions stuck in champions FOREVER! Until Pokémon changes that at some point, or if ever.
The Pokémon you transfer into Champions are called "visitors." These visitor Pokémon are Pokémon from other games that are played in Champions, and what makes these Pokémon special, is that anything you taught them in Champions will save that data in the game. So, when you transfer a Pokémon into a different game it will have its same old moves as it did before in that game, and in Pokémon champions it will save all the states you gave it in that game!

Recruit

Second there is Recruiting! Recruiting is just like getting Pokémon in Pokémon unite, but the currency you use is VP, and the Pokémon you can choose from are random. You can recruit a Pokémon once a day for free, but the free Pokémon you recruited is only available for 7 days. You may also spend VP to recruit Pokémon more than once a day. If you are willing to spend big VP you can pay 2,500 VP to permanently keep a Pokémon.

Outro

I'm pretty excited for this game and hope you are too. I'm already planning my team. I would love to hear what you are planning for your team down in the comments.
